David has a wealth of experience working as a teacher with both adults and children. He is always happy to discuss particular needs and aspirations with potential students. A particular interest is in coaching and mentoring those who take up study of organ-playing as adults.

Organ
Classical tuition on the 'King of Instruments' is available. Normally students should have attained Grade VI level on the piano before starting organ studies, though see above.

Piano
Classical tuition on the piano for all ability levels.

French horn
Classical tuition on the horn is offered to intermediate and advanced students.

Singing
Classical (choral and solo) styles are taught and all ability levels are catered for from total beginners to advanced students. The starting age for singing lessons is 8.

Exams, concerts and competitions
As well as studying in lessons, David will prepare his students for exams, concerts and competitions when it is felt that they have reached a suitable level.

David teaches both the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) syllabus and for the certicates and diplomas offered by the Royal College of Organists (RCO) for advanced organ students, though ABRSM is the normal initial route for most instruments and voice.

This kind of outlet and recognition of their acheivement provides an significant boost to students' confidence and increases their enjoyment of music making. David's students have enjoyed high exam attainment and success in competitions and concerts.

Child safety & insurance
David has had an enhanced CRB check and holds a fully disclosed certificate. As a teacher registered with the Musicians' Union he has public liability insurance to cover students whilst in lessons.

Location & Times
David currently teaches either at home (except organ), or at students homes. Times are arranged flexibly for mutual convenience. Organ teaching is carried out by negotiation at churches in north west Wiltshire or on an instrument to which a student has access, provided that instrument meets certain minimum requirements - please contact David to discuss suitability.

Charges
£40 per one hour session. An initial consultation is usually free of charge; fees for subsequent lessons are payable one lesson in advance.
