I studied orchestral conducting at Canford with George Hurst, Rodolfo Saglimbeni, and Robert Houlihan.
In 1988 I made my conducting debut with Mozart's Symphony Nr 29, and Elgar's Serenade in Birmingham Cathedral.
In demand as both a choral and orchestral conductor, I have directed many concerts in the English Midlands, the North of England, Portugal, and elsewhere.
I was for several years conductor of the Aurora Symphony Orchestra, which performed in several venues in the English Midlands. More recently, I have conducted ensembles formed for specific occasions with players drawn from the talented pool of freelance players in the country.
Forces have ranged from chamber ensemble, for example, a performance of the Faure Requiem with two voices per part, to large scale performances with chorus and orchestra of such works as the Brahms Requiem and Haydn's The Creation.
In addition to concert work, I have frequently undertaken orchestral and ensemble coaching, and have trained and directed several choral societies in the Midlands and North of England.
Repertoire includes Mozart Piano Concerto 22 in E flat, Handel "Messiah", Vivaldi "Gloria", Haydn Symphony nos. 88, 99, 102, 103, Haydn "The Creation", Brahms"German Requiem", Faure "Requiem", Tippett "Little String Music", Vaughan Williams "Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis", Mozart Symphonies 25, 29, 31, 39, 41, Beethoven Overtures "Prometheus", "Leonore nr 3", "Coriolan", Symphony nr3 "Eroica", 8, 9 "Choral", Elgar Introduction & Allegro, Serenade, etc..
